It is with great sadness and deepest condolences that we Abercynon RFC have learnt of the passing of the late Raymond Teirimana Rakei, father of Club Chairman Mr.Shannon Rakei.
Shannon and his wife Sheryl flew back mid week to his native New Zealand in an Emergency to be at his father's bedside. Shannon always speaks highly of his family and frequently kept in touch with his dad on the other side of the world through modern technology.
During the World Cup of 2011 in New Zealand, players and members of Abecynon rugby club met up with Shannon's father, family and friends at Lake Taupo and had the most wonderful welcome from their Maoris friends making great memories that are often talked about in our clubhouse.
Everyone associated with Abercynon RFC thoughts and prayers are with Shannon and his family at this sad time.
