Cynon Valley Schools History Makers

Captain Ben Coomer lifting the cup with Bailey Cutts

Congratulations to Cynon Valley Schools who have won the DC Thomas Cup at the Principality stadium making them the National Champions, beating Pontypool School 4 tries to 3.

The game itself, was a great spectacle for all who watched at the stadium and was played with high intensity in what was a gripping final few minutes as they brought the cup home. Great credit and respect has to go to these young 10-11year olds as they will have memories of the day that will last a lifetime.

An excellent achievement for our small Valley, players and all the clubs involved. This is the competition where so many past and current Wales Internationals players started their dreams of playing for Wales.

As a club we are massively proud of our Mini and Junior Section as we had 7 representatives from our Under 11s team play their part in the big day and help bring the cup home.  Our Mini and Junior section has a great volunteer group and they are responsible for producing the talented young players through all age groups with the majority of coaches being current or ex players.

Keep up the good work of producing talent from our area and helping grass roots rugby.
