Barrie Bates wins Abercynon RFC Darts Open 2017

There was a good turnout of entries on Saturday 15th July, in what was the first time Abercynon RFC have held an open Darts Tournament.

The quality of the field was extremely high with visitors attending from Germany and entrants coming  as far afield as Fleetwood, Blackpool namely current darts professional Wes Newton. A good day was had by all entrants who turned up and were impressed with the setup and organisation on the day.

The tournament was narrowly won by Barrie Bates, of Bedlinog, who scooped the £350 top prize after beating John Davey 6-5, in what was a great final of quality darts.  John took £150 prize money for the runner up spot.

Abercynon RFC would like to thank all the competitors for supporting the day and a massive thank you to the sponsors of the four boards for the open tournament, namely Glyn Spilsbury, Will Evans(Aerozip), Flavour Vapour(Michael Davies) & Pet Wise (Ken Thomas). Preparation will now begin to build on this year's successful tournament and  make the Abercynon RFC Open an annual event......... further information will follow shortly.
