A great day was had by all at our club Yesterday when former British Lion, Wales and Double Grand slam winner Mike Phillips come to our club.

Mike took a children's training session in the morning where he coached and shared his skills and knowledge gained from playing rugby at the highest level around the world.

During and after the coaching session Mike took plenty of time to have photographs and sign memorabilia from all the children and whoever was present on the day.  It was reported that the club has never seen so many mothers at the training ground.

Mike then held a Gentleman's evening in the Walter Barnes suite in our clubhouse, with comedian Phil Howe where a good night was had by all attended.   Mike then stayed after the formal evening was completed, having friendly banter and finding time for everyone who wanted to have a conversation with him. 

Abercynon RFC would like to thank Mike for a great day, also all our volunteers who worked tirelessly organising the day for the community.  A special thanks to Gareth Bowen/JP Lidster and Leanne Coomer for making the day happen.
