MICHAEL DAVIES

Michael Davies was a big man with a big heart. His sudden passing has left Abercynon RFC in a state of much sadness. A large imposing presence, Mike, earned his nickname of Shoulders for obvious reasons. He also answered to Davo but was the same friendly character to all who knew him.

A former player, captain and coach Mike, for almost two decades, wore the Abercynon shirt on over 300 occasions, which earned him his club cap. On retiring from the game he undertook a coaching role commencing with youth rugby and then graduating to senior level.

Mike’s later years were marred by enduring personal struggles. His passing at a relatively young age, will be deeply felt but the ebullient person that Mike epitomised will be remembered by his many friends.

Abercynon RFC offer the club’s heartfelt condolences to Mike’s family and in particular to sons Luke and Jarryd.
