Robert Lock

Following his long illness, Robert Lock’s passing has saddened everyone here at the Abercynon Club. Robert had a 40-year plus association with Abercynon RFC during which period he played over 300 games to earn his Club cap. A staunch clubman he also served time as team captain, coach and team manager. In his playing pomp Robert was a strong- running, athletic back row forward who always gave one hundred percent commitment to the cause.

Abercynon RFC wish to convey sincere condolences to Robert’s wife Angela, daughters Cerys and Karen, and grandchildren Angel, Lewys and Charlie.

The details for the funeral of Robert Lock have been finalised. Robert will leave his home undertaking his final journey from Ar y Cerrig, (CF45 4PS) at 10.15am on Tuesday 21st July 2020. The hearse will travel along Mountain Ash/Abercynon Rd to Abercynon Rugby Club (CF45 4RU) where an outdoor service will take place commencing at 10.30am. The hearse will then travel to Glyntaff Crematorium back through Abercynon. Due to Covid-19 restrictions at the Crematorium the gates will be locked and car park closed. Therefore we ask you to either meet at the Rugby Club or stand along the route in Abercynon.

The service will take place on the carpark of the rugby club. All cars could be parked at Abercynon sports centre or along the park road to allow sufficient space for distancing at the rugby club.

The family ask for no flowers, however if you wish to make a donation please see the PayPal link below or a bucket collection will be available on the day.

All proceeds will be split between The Alzheimer’s Society and Ward 7 YCC patient fund.

We look forward to seeing you there and giving Robert the send off he truly deserves. Thank you, Angela, Cerys, Karen, Angel, Lewys & Charlie x
