Cory Bunney signs for Abercynon RFC

Abercynon RFC are happy to announce the signing of Cory Bunney from Mountain Ash RFC. The 22-year-old prop returns to the club ahead of an exciting 2024/25 season.

Starting his journey into the sport through Mountain Ash RFC's Mini and Juniors section, he then moved to Abercynon when he was 11 and stayed until the age of 18. During that time, Cory was also a key player in the Cardiff Blues North U16 squad.

The majority of Cory’s senior playing career has been with Mountain Ash’s 1st XV, but we’re excited to see him back in red and black for the upcoming season.

On returning to Abercynon, Cory said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to the club where I spent the majority of my childhood and teenage years playing. Coming back to Abercynon has given me the opportunity for a fresh start, and to hopefully get back to winning ways.”

Forwards coach Sam Evans said: “It’s great to see Cory back at Abercynon after previously going through our Minis/Juniors and Youth sections. So far, he’s showcased his brilliant skill set and versatility as a front row forward. He fits our style of rugby and I’m sure he will be a key player in the squad going forward.”

Welcome back Cory, and good luck!
