During the 1960’s, Brian Howells played three seasons for Abercynon RFC. A speedy, tough tackling winger, Brian was never afraid to go where it hurt. Short in stature but big in terms of endeavour and ability, he played alongside his late brother Raymond in Abercynon's backline.
While his playing career at the Club was relatively brief, Brian went on to excel on the cricket field and spent a number of years as a football referee.
Sadly, Brian passed away recently at the age of 77.
Abercynon RFC wish to offer sincere condolences to Brian's wife Eleanor, daughter Nichola, sons Darren, David and Carwyn and their respective families. Also, to his surviving siblings Dilwyn, Marion and Graham.
