It is with deep sadness that all at Abercynon RFC have absorbed the news of the passing of former player Steven Dixon. In the late 1990s Steve emerged through our youth team set up to become a well-adjusted back row player. In 2003-04 Steve scored 18 tries over the season but narrowly missed out the top try scorer award. However, Steve’s first team progress was hindered at Abercynon and so he moved on to Rhydyfelin RFC where he was able to gain a more regular first team place.
Steve’s untimely death at just 40 years of age has truly devastated his family. Abercynon RFC wish to pass on sincere condolences to fiancé Jess and daughter Rhiannon. Also, to his mother and father Jackie and Paul and his sister Claire. Steven was one of nature’s laid back personalities, generous in spirit and deed – he will be sorely missed by his many friends and colleagues.
