Philip Currie was a long time supporter and member of Abercynon RFC. Following a long illness his recent passing at the age of 79 has saddened everyone at the club. For a number of years, from the early 1980s onward, Phil was 'domiciled' in Saudi Arabia owing to his employment in the aircraft industry. However, he kept closely in touch with the club's fortunes throughout. Upon his return to Abercynon, Phil served on the club committee and subsequently, as Fixture Secretary.
